A Multi-stakeholder Workshop on the Validation of Hurulu-Kawdulla-Kantale (HKK) Landscape Management Plan was held on 23rd January 2020, at the Center for Banking Studies, Sri Jayawardanapura Mawatha, Rajagiriya, in Colombo.

Introduction to and purpose of the workshop was highlighted by Project Director of Ecosystem Conservation & Management Project (ESCAMP). Short keynote was given by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Wildlife Resources.


REST's Lead Strategist Dr. Rajan led an experienced team (from TEAMs Consultancy) in Sri Lanka to prepare the Landscape Management Planning Approach including the primary Goal, Objectives, Proposed Tasks, Planning Methodology, based on findings of analysis of the landscape and proposed major components, sectoral Interventions, of the above plan and Recommendations. The plan is one of the very first one in Sri Lanka that proposes trade-offs between conservation and development and integrates them in a holistic, inclusive manner.
